Whatever I thought I remembered, I discarded like the bad drafts of a story. It couldn't have happened. People embellish memories, filter them and run a narrative string through events, distorting the past. That much I knew. That much was certain. So it stood to reason that whatever I had thought I remembered had been corrupted, inaccurate, false. It couldn't have happened. Not to me. Not to Stevy.
