With their parents largely out of the picture, the Smith children make friends, build relationships, and begin to thrive without the oppressive weight of Maya and Ray's impossible expectations and crippling absence. Sure, things are imperfect, and some parts of their lives loom over their heads like storm clouds, but what they have is theirs, untouchable and wholly their own. Until one day it all falls apart. Three years later, Kai is finishing up high school when his parents decide to show up again- this time for good. As the drama of the healing family's lives build up, someone begins to quake from the pressure. Will they be able to keep their secret? Will old connections be reforged? What if Krux took the whole family. It would make sense, once Ray and Maya where useless there children took there place... until Krux found out how useful they can be as his own personal fighters. After being sent up to retrieve their masters brother, Kai and Nya are forced to decide if they really are on the side of Time.
