Kaitlyn has just turned seventeen. For her birthday she got nothing more than cards and a few journals. Her father was supposed to be giving her child support from the last three years. Three hundred more dollars and she could get into Harvard. But he so called "forgot about it". He's got a new family. A little girl and a wife. He has no reason to remember his other children, her and her brother.
On the other hand, her mother, Ellen, was doing great. She is an author who writes books on child development. You know that book labeled "How to Take Care of a Teenage Daughter"? Yeah that's hers. There's just one thing missing. Her mom is lonely. She keeps going on and on about wanting a man and how Kyle, her brother, needs a dad. So supposedly she fell in love with her publisher, Mr. Taylor. Although he's rich and is nice to them, Kaitlyn thinks he's replacing her dad.
One day he and his children had come over for breakfast. It was weird and it got even weirder when she found out they were moving in with Mr. Taylor. Between him and his son Kaitlyn was starting to go crazy. What could she do to make her mother understand that she doesn't need Mr. Taylor? What can Kaitlyn do to stop falling for his son?
