A Your Lie in April/Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (四月は君の嘘) short story where Arima Kousei, Emi Igawa and Takeshi Aiza met once again to watch a concert. While waiting for the event to start, Emi introduced a game called Piano Tiles 2 and they decided to have a battle to see who's the best at one Spring day.

"What about you? Was I able to live inside someone's heart? Was I able to live inside your heart?" I could never forget you, Kaori. "Spring will be here soon. Spring, the season I met you, is coming. A spring without you... is coming."

Kaori should have died. So why? Why was she here, smiling at him, as if nothing ever happened? "Oh god." Ryota brought his hand to his mouth. He felt like he was going to pass out as he whispered out the words: "Kousei, what have you done?" - Desperation led humans to places only gods dared to cross. Ryota underestimated it all: the grief, the pain, and the yearning, until he comes face to face with what they should have left behind fifteen years ago.

Kousei Arima has a secret. He's dying. He's been dying for the past two years, his fingers not working well enough to work a piano. He faints constantly and days are only getting harder for him. He's been hiding it for as long as he could remember. But what happens when he meets a certain girl who gets him to get back up onto the stage? Will his secret unravel? What will he do if it does? All he can do is keep his façade up and hope for the best. NOTE: Character Death to be expected

What if Kousei, Arima never did stop playing the piano even after his mother died, and what if Miyazono, Kaori kept playing the piano passionately and didn't switch into playing the violin? How will they both influence each other this time? What impact will Kaori make in the life of the human metronome as their paths intertwined? The basic question lies somewhere else though, will he ever notice her? Or will she be invincible in his eyes.

When she looked at me, knowing she had to go. I remember when she played her last notes, then took her last breath. I remember. I remember the letter. I remember. She loves me. She told a lie, the lie, to get closer to me. I wasted the little time I had with her. But I still enjoyed it. But it was too short. It's been a year. But I haven't moved on. She looked faded, blending into her surroundings, and each time Kousei blinked, she would flicker away for a moment, only to return back. As though she were desperate to stay where she wasn't meant to be. She smiled at him. "There you are. I've been waiting for you."
