December 16th is celebrated as Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) in India to commemorate the decisive victory over Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. This day holds immense historical importance as it led to the creation of Bangladesh and the liberation of its people from Pakistani rule. During the 1971 war, Indian armed forces, along with the Mukti Bahini (the liberation army of Bangladesh), played a pivotal role in defeating the Pakistani military. The conflict lasted for 13 days, ending on December 16, 1971, when the Pakistani military in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) surrendered to the joint forces of India and Bangladesh. Vijay Diwas is observed to honor the courage, sacrifice, and valor of the soldiers who fought in the war. It serves as a reminder of the unity and determination shown by the Indian armed forces in achieving victory and securing the independence of Bangladesh. On this day, various events and ceremonies are organized across the country to pay homage to the brave soldiers who played a crucial role in this historic military success.

With the surrounding chill quickly engulfing him down to the nimble parts of his body, the ears occasionally picked up distant but constantly growing sound of fanatic slogans that were broken only by the occasional rattle of semi automatic weapons.

His eyes shone with pride as he fell to the ground. The pride in his eyes was the pride for his nation. "As I saw him for the last time, I thought I had lost everything in my life" "He tripped over a stone and fell into the deep cliff. I saw him as the cliff devoured him like a monster as he fell like a fallen angel from the heaven!" I felt so helpless that I wanted to kill myself to relieve me of this great pain. As the truth sank into me, I felt like my soul was being torn into tiny pieces by hungry wolves which were actually devils in disguise. This pain was different. It was like no other, it caused no harm to me but tortured me like anything. The anger inside me, burnt me to ashes and from those ashes rose a new man who was filled with more poison than any other snake. "I had changed, I was no more myself, I had no feelings, the ruthlessness that I had seen had turned me into a complete beast, hungry for revenge and thirsty for blood"
