I turn to look to Tommy who is beat to a pulp. I kneel down and swing his arm around my shoulder. I have to help him up with a lot of work, since he is barely conscious.
"Shitty luck, huh?" I say to him as I practically drag him down the sidewalk, "A couple words for advice, Tom. Don't wear something that will draw attention." and I involuntarily look to his bloody pink polo t-shirt.
"Thanks." He manages to croak out. I look to his beaten face, "Don't thank me." Something then clicks in me.
"No," he stops and looks at me in the eyes, "Thank you."
"I don't want anything thanks." I say with an edge to my voice, "I want you to pay me back." Tommy stares at me with more confusion than he had when Shawn started beating him.
"Huh?" He says.
