Skid- (to skid) v. (of a vehicle) slide, typically sideways or obliquely, on slippery ground or as a result of stopping or turning too quickly.
A 16 year-old Elsie and her uncle Michael are on vacation in northern Vermont on an October eve, driving up to Lewiston, New York, where Michael grew up. As dusk takes over and as their vehicle furthers deeper into the layers of the brush, Michael and Elsie are suddenly slid across the road, where a Subaru containing another vacationing family passes. Unfortunately for those involved in the accident, this wouldn't be the first time a collision with an unexpected skid occurred at this misty place in the middle of nowhere.
