Theater politics meant Rasa never thought he would marry for love. A marriage involving family politics meant his future bride was already selected, but the arrangement ended through the manipulations of a family nuisance to whom the politics meant nothing. Fortune has other things planned for him. Disclaimer - I don't own Naruto. For the Fanfic Friday contest Curtain Call, I decided to go with a romance involving Japanese puppet theater. Bunraku is one of the major traditional theater disciplines along with Kabuki. Kyogen and Noh. The play mentioned in the story, Sonezaki Shinju, is also equivalent in Japan to William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The fanfic focuses around Bunraku, but also, the family politics involved for a family ingrained in the Japanese theater tradition. For this story, I'm using the possibility of Rasa being related to the third Kazekage, Chiyo, Ebizo and Sasori to round out the head family of the Bunraku troupe. The ex-fiance is the daughter of Onoki, and mother of Kurotsuchi who are the third and fourth Tsuchikage respectively, though it is not known whether Onoki is Kurotsuchi's maternal or paternal grandfather.

Six Konoha genin are stuck in Suna during the rare rainy season, and arguing in the Kazekage's library over whose parents have the most romantic storyline. Ebizo finally settles them down by telling them a story of the most romantic couple, or what he feels is the most romantic couple - that of the relationship between Rasa and Karura. Disclaimer - I don't own Naruto. This is written for Wattpad's Just-Write-It for January 2006, and the theme is Firsts. I decided to focus on first love for this contest, and I decided to write a multi-chapter story featuring a pre-canon pairing for the first time. This story also uses the Story Within a Story trope. Orichimaru not receiving punishment at the end of the series broke Willing Suspense of Disbelief, so I'm not going to be using Mitsuki despite the fact I like his character, and the story runs AU to the epilogue due to both Orichimaru and Mitsuki's involvement in those story lines. Metal Lee is taking his place on Baruto and Sarada's team.

Rasa and Karura hoped for a third healthy child, but complications occurred resulting in their third child being born prematurely. Frustration grows for Rasa upon realizing his youngest isn't normal either, causing a strain on his marriage with Karura. Disclaimer - I don't own Naruto. This story is a situational AU, and also an AU where Karura lives. Note - When I saw that the prompt for this #fanficfriday was #bigchange, I got to thinking about how having a preemie is hard on some fathers, as there is a fear of accidentally hurting the child. I also got to thinking about how having a child with autism is known at times to put a strain on marriages. Gaara also shares certain traits with those on the spectrum, so things ended up clicking together. Doraemon is also a popular children's Anime over in Japan, plus a childhood favorite for the creator of Naruto.

When a person loses all of their memories, everyone becomes a stranger to them. Thus the person who happens to be their significant other will become a complete stranger. As such when Karura loses her memories, she doesn't recognize Rasa as her husband. The forth Kazekage on the other hand struggled with confessing to her in the first place, and struggles yet again with approaching her about his feelings. He finds himself becoming instead her secret admirer, with amounts to re-wooing her from a distance, and not being sure if it will work. Disclaimer - I don't own Naruto. The story is an AU where Karura doesn't die when Gaara is born, but instead loses her memories. Outside of this event, the story is completely canon compliant. Note - This was written for Fanfic Friday, but I was only able to complete two chapters for the contest. Since the contest is over, I'm now working on finishing it, and I don't have to worry about the word cap now. Thus this is also going to be my Just Write It piece for this month.

When the Kazekage agrees to put Shukaku inside of their third unborn son, he figures that he'll have to say his last goodbyes to something he loves the most. *everyday is 1 to 2 chapters*
