december 24th, 2001 | 2:16am "she looks into her daughters eyes for the first time, her large, delicate eyes lighting up as they make eye contact for the first time. it's magical, surreal. she didn't expect to have this feeling, feeling like her whole life had fallen into place, like all of the pieces of the puzzle had fit together perfectly, all of the holes were filled. there wasn't a thing katheryn was missing. the moment was perfect. katheryn lied in an empty hospital room with a small newborn swaddled in a pink, fluffy blanket in her arms on the cold december night. she knew she wanted to keep the child. she wasn't letting go of her no matter the circumstances. but she would have to raise this child on her own. she wasn't allowed to return home. a 17 year old with a child was unheard of in such a religious household. 'don't you worry, little one. i'm not going anywhere.' she whispers against her daughters forehead, her soft lips barely meeting the baby's soft, plump cheeks. 'we don't need anyone do we?' and katheryn raised her daughter for years, with little to no money. all she could do was move away, ask around for money, and sleep on her friend's couches with her daughter sleeping upon her chest, hoping that things would get better. and they did, when katheryn became famous. now, 11 year old quinn discovers more about her mother than anything else. she's challenged to help her mother be the person she always aspired to be, a good mother, a role model, but most importantly, healed.
