Suddenly Dex is questioning his sexuality after he has a dream about kissing someone. And now he's in a state of being flustered, confused, and dismisses any sort of hope that there could be any reciprocated feelings. After all, Keefe Sencen was straight and liked Sophie. ... Right?

My random KOTLC thoughts, theories, short stories that I feel like writing down. I mostly do lgbtq+ ships. I don't like the Canon plot. I won't have any art here since I already have an art book where I post my art. Uhh.... what else? You can request things! otherwise, enjoy!

I lost track of whether I was making this a friendshipy story or a shippy story at somepoint. A rewrite of an older story on my account!

The noise started just before dawn when the surrounding farmers woke up to tend to their livestock. Animals braying in the fields filled the dimly lit hills, acting as a baseline for the loud morning to come. Next would come the baker and then the blacksmith and only then would other shops begin to open. Dex tapped a stick of charcoal on the edge of his notebook. He'd head into town around that time, dropping off a few of his parents' remedies, picking up more chicken feed, and checking on Monsieur Elwin's backdoor hinges. They always seem to creak around this time of year and the older man couldn't quite reach the upper ones by himself. Maybe he'd lend Dex some of his alchemy papers... (I return from the grave with a Keefex Beauty and the Beast AU in which I thought way too hard about the worldbuilding.)

A story involving Sophiana, Marellinh, Keefex, and Tylie, my personal favorites. More in an alternate universe than in the elven world. That's all. Enjoy.

"He was a bit concerned that his one and only son hasn't picked up a match list after being registered for a few years. Y'know, people talk and all that." Keefe started. Dex rolled his eyes. He didn't bother to sign up for matchmaking in the first place and Keefe found himself really wishing he did the same. "That's his problem? You got me worried there." "No need. He thought the best course of action was to sit me down for one of our many father-son heart to hearts and he gave me a little choice." Dex looked over, eyelids still trying to blink away the last traces of sleep, signalling him to go on. "He said that I could move out." The sleepiness finally retreated from his gaze. "That's great, but there's a catch, right?" He knows Keefe too well, really. "He'd only do that if I picked up a list and held a Winnowing's Gala." (Keefe is forced to back into matchmaking shenanigans and the rest of the crew will not stand for it.)

Many things surprised Keefe about the Forbidden Cities; the food, buildings, how loud it was, how people could breathe with the terrible air quality, but what shocked him the most was the weather. Sure, the Lost Cities got its fair share of rain and storms, but it really got to him when he heard about human seasons. An elf would have to like making things pretty difficult for themselves if they choose to live where they could get snowed in or burnt to a crisp whenever the universe felt like it. Even when that was the case, estates in riskier places had some protection on their side to stop them from getting flooded or flattened. Sophie said that she barely noticed the difference, but it still messed with Keefe's head whenever the topic came up. At least that's what he told himself as he stared out the window while snowflakes whipped against the clear panes instead of finishing his empathy homework. (Happy holidays and, as my gift to you, I present some wintery fluff because who's going to stop me?)

Keefe has fucked up. No, he's really, really done it this time. He told Lady Belva - who's known to be unable to keep her mouth shut - that he's seeing someone. And then he gave that someone a name. Dex Dizznee. Only thing is, it was all a lie. So what are the two boys supposed to do when she lets the information leak?

Keefe hated that he still loved this place. Objectively, it smelled like a gulon's armpit, the ground was covered in an inky film, and he found the area during one of the worst periods of his life. Some part of him still looked over his shoulder whenever a selkie cried in the distance in case it was the Neverseen that disturbed it. Still... he came back every once in a while.
