After the Kerberos mission failed and pilot error is blamed, thusly blaming Shiro who can't defend himself, Keith wants nothing to do with the Garrison and wants to drop out. The head of the Shirogane family and commander of the Japanese garrison insists on a compromise - that Keith pilot for Ryo when he heads to Mars to perform at a concert. Only-- An event that wasn't pilot error occurs, resulting in them being stranded on an a tropical island on an alien planet with no clue where in the galaxy they are, needing to survive despite the tension between Keith and Ryo regarding -- well, everything. Keith tells Shiro not to get on the flight home, so Shiro instead takes a commercial flight. Upon arriving he learns the plane the rest of his unit were on crashed and there were no survivors, yet he finds himself curious regarding why his younger brother knew he shouldn't get on the flight. She starts to doubt the fact she does when she starts learning some things he'd not told her. Disclaimer - I don't own Voltron: Legendary Defender. This is a spin off AU to my story Gemini, Touch the Sky. It is also written for Open Novella 2020. The prompt I picked for this one was prompt nineteen, "the one true friend you could trust happens to be a penpal you have been talking to since you were 12 through letters and emails. What happens if you find out that your penpal happens to be a part of a famous Kpop group?"

Minors running around playing superhero constitutes a worse nightmare situation for the Justice League. As such, Shiro and Keith find themselves both drug into Young Justice becoming guardians of their home planet before becoming guardians of the universe. (See some of the chapters in Beyond the Night, particularly the first one.) Shiro and Keith are siblings by blood in this, their mother is Altean instead of Galra, Ryo is Keith's twin and a pop-idol. Also, humans obviously know about aliens in this, where as they don't in VLD. Oh, and this is my NaNoWriMo project for 2017!

This is also written for Froday Flash Fiction's second regular challenge for June 2021 - the theme being Range and at least 100 words. This story diverges from canon after season two. Black sheep, black sheep, have you any wool... family connections, finding a purpose and growing up, yet also dealing with the pressures of being one of the defenders of the universe simply makes trying to be a normal teen, when one is already not normal all the more hard. Disclaimer - I don't own Voltron: Legendary Defender. This is actually not the fic I actually planned on starting on, but a different idea that got stuck in my head. This is also for prompt 116 on my 2017 prompt list which involves "black sheep". Theories for this fanfic include Shiro and Keith being blood brothers with the same parents, meaning Shiro is also part alien, the character Ryo from the original series being Keith's twin brother, and either the theory of Alteans and Galra being the same species genetically or their mother being an Altean/Galra hybrid, still undecided. This also works with the theory of Keith being on the autism spectrum.

The war ends, leaving Keith feeling utterly lost, unable to approach Allura regarding his feelings due to personal insecurities. The young paladin tries seeking out the place he belongs now that Castle of Lions no longer seems like home now that Voltron is needed, but also seeks the truth regarding his parentage, only to find out things aren't as they always seem. Keith's autistic, Shiro's brother, Ryo's twin, and while he things he's part Galra, he's actually part Altean. The original plan for 'Moon Princess' wasn't to have flashbacks to the relationship between Keith's parents, but I found the story didn't flow right.
