Today I witnessed Myles Victorovich, my first officer, have a mental breakdown. To make matters worse he reverted from English to Russian. The universal translator couldn't keep up and decided to let him speak Russian. In all honesty, Myles hasn't slept more than 5 hours a night since we left Yorktown. The attack from the man formerly known as Balthazar Edison left his parents on life support. The attack was over a year ago. Last week when we were docked at Yorktown he found out his father had died. He hasn't taken it well. I remember when I got the news of my parents passing, I was serving on the Jupiter then. Barely an adult. I had gotten most of my training on the USS Edison and was able to skip a few years at the academy. The grief was overpowering. I was lucky to have Captain Avery and Chris to help me through, they became my family. Chris also was grieving for his best friends, I'm glad he was able to find some peace before he followed in their steps. I feel it in my heart that they are together and getting into mischief. As for Avery, she found me to be much like her and decided early I would take over once she took the position as admiral. For six years she groomed me. People always act like it would be fun to randomly end up in the star trek universe, especially younger fans like myself. But I got to thinking, would it really be that fun? A short one-shot. Reader-Insert. Angsty. Kelvin Timeline.

This is a collection of stories about the unexplored, never experienced sides of one Captain James Tiberius Kirk; along with the adventures, mishaps, and crew members that lead up to them.

A sequel to Star Trek: Beyond, Samantha "Sam" Kirk is transferred to the Yorktown Starbase. Sam is briefly reunited with her brother, Captain James "Jim" T. Kirk, of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Soon after, she is sent on a mission to investigate an unusual energy reading from a nearby planetary system that Kirk and the Enterprise crew are familiar with, the Altamid system. At Commodore Paris' request, the Enterprise remains at Yorktown for a little longer. Until Sam and the ship she is assigned to disappear. Because Earth is too far away to contact Kirk's and Sam's mother and step-father, Captain Kirk is informed of his sister's disappearance. He and the Enterprise crew, including Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, navigate their way through the nebula to the Altamid system. The crew tracks Sam to one of the planets in the Altamid system, Xamma, where they discover a god-like being who claims to be Apollo. Kirk and Bones beam down to the planet to find out where Sam is. Kirk and Bones discover that Sam and the remaining crew are being held captive, forced to worship this god-like being. Sam, while serving Kirk and Bones as Apollo's guests, slips them a note, detailing the source of Apollo's power. The men return to the Enterprise to devise a plan to rescue the captives. However, their plan is immediately discovered by Apollo, who is furious and forces the crew to choose representatives to fight to the death against representatives of Sam's crew. Both crews agree to the fight, in the hopes that those not fighting can find and destroy Apollo's power supply to stop him.
