Kenric couldn't forget the flames. Burning him over and over. But it was only a dream. Right? Kenric suffers from chronic, recurring nightmares that seem more real after each night. One night, he wakes up and Oralie visits him. After hearing about his dreams, she helps him fall asleep by singing him a song.

It's the translation of my fanfiction "Gardien des Cités perdues selon Oralie tome 1". This story tells every moments of KOTLC where Oralie appears, according to her point of view. In some chapters, I may change a little bit the events of the story, to fit better to my fanfiction, but I'll do my best to be the closest to the original book of Shannon Messenger. What if Kenric survived the Everblaze? After Kenric burns away in the Everblaze, Oralie's life dissolves into sobs, sorrow, and despair. That is where Book Three ends - with love lost to fire. But what if Kenric didn't die in the flames? He promised to Oralie that they would be together, and he is a man of his word. However, fire isn't the only enemy. They must disappear from the hawking eyes of the Neverseen, and even fight against their own society in order leave their life of Councillors behind. It was a man. With red hair littered with dust and soot. Oralie felt like she got punched in the gut. Her body shivered so badly she nearly toppled over, but she grasped her door's handle and stabilized herself against the migraine that was cutting her brain into a zillion pieces. No. No it couldn't be, she thought. Exhilarated, baffled, and petrified for her life, Oralie turned the handle. The door hit the wall with a clang. Oralie gasped in sharply as she examined a man, covered in burns, leaning against her front porch's railing heavily. "Kenric?" she breathed, unable to trust the world anymore. He gave her a tired, lopsided grin. "Miss me?" What happens if something different happened with the Everblaze, and something different happened to Kenric? If Fintan could survive, then what about Kenric? Would the Neverseen save Kenric to use as a bargining chip? Or would they make him join? kenralie koralie kenric + oralie

The world thought Kenric died. And maybe somewhere deep down, a little part of him had in the time he'd spent in the Neverseen's clutches. But it didn't matter when he saw her. None of it mattered. Only her. Oralie's world was gone. All she could do was put one step in front of the other, desperately hoping everything she'd ever worked for was not for nothing. She was drowning, but it didn't matter. None of it mattered. Because he was gone. ~ Oralie always thought she'd step down with Kenric once this was all over. She'd spend the rest of her life with him. It never occurred to her that by the time this ended, he'd be gone. Now she's falling apart, and no one's there to pick up the pieces. But when a showdown with the Neverseen reveals their possession of a hostage that could throw the Lost Cities into chaos, she's torn once more between her duties and her love. The whole world is depending on her to do the right thing. But he is her whole world.
