In the year 1118, nine French knights traveled to Jerusalem. There they founded the Order of the Knights Templar.
No one knows what the knights did in Jerusalem, but they stayed there for nine years before returning home to France. After that, the Templars became the richest and most powerful order in Europe-until the French king decided that he wanted the Templars' treasure.
The year is 1361. King Valdemar invades Gotland. The Swedish peasantry resists, but King Valdemar crushes everything in his path toward the capital, Visby.
Despite King Valdemar's bloody advance across the island, Visby's wealthy citizens feel safe behind the city's thick walls. But King Valdemar is cunning.
He captures the Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jakob Charra, and forces his daughter, Sigrid, to open the great city gate. The Danes thunder in unopposed, take everything of value in the city, and then leave again.
Some believe, however, that King Valdemar never found what he was truly searching for-the treasure of the Knights Templar.
The anger among the people is great after the invasion, and it is believed that Sigrid had fallen in love with King Valdemar, marking her as a traitor. She is walled up inside one of the towers of the city wall.
Although Sigrid cannot prove her innocence, she accepts her punishment with pride and dignity until the last stone is laid-for she is the daughter of the Grand Master of the Knights Templar. Stone by stone the wall is built, while the maiden weeps in the splendor of the moonlight.
Centuries later, the question remains: did the treasure ever exist-or was it hidden so well that history itself forgot it? and can our group find it ?
