The exchange program works like this: The student from (your country) stays with the student from Japan (Masaomi) for one year. Then, the student from Japan finishes school in (your country). In this, the reader starts off at 16 years old, and Masaomi is 16 as well.

After a recent discovery, a ragtag group of adventurers, a teenage mechanic, a cute gibberish reading nerd, and a young Parasychologist, head into the depths of the ocean to find the lost empire of Atlantis. She is to attend Raira Academy as a normal girl, but as far as she and Izaya Orihara know, she is not as normal as she says she is.
