Jaime Kelly, also known as "Books", is the leader of the Lower Manhattan Newsies. She loves her Newsies like they're her family. Every 8 Days she goes to see her best friend, Spot, the "King of Brooklyn". Everything seems to be going pretty normal until one day when she and her brother, Jack, start a strike against "The World". But what happens when memories of her past starts to resurface? And what happens when she makes a bet with " King Idiot" that in 8 days he could get her to say 8 letters? Note: ALL CHARACTERS MENTIONED IN THE 1992 FILM BELONG TO DISNEY. I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS EXCEPT FOR JAIME AND ANY OTHER CHARACTERS NOT MENTIONED IN THE NEWSIES 1992 FILM!

The Newsies gang holds a history longer than most of the other gangs in New York City. Jack Kelly is the fearless and current leader of a group of paper boys on wheels as well as the leader of the Newsies gang. The boys struggle with their dominant employer beginning to treat them poorly, mostly because it's well known that these boys are in a gang, through his refusal to pay them anymore than what they earn from the tips that they receive from the deliveries they make. While Jack and the rest of the gang struggle with that, there's a new rumble happening in the city. A new sock hop opens up with friendly intentions during opening hours that turn sinister behind the kitchen doors which could very well spell bad things for New York City. That leaves Jack and the boys with one task, to protect the people and the city they love. However, the more the boys visit the sock hop, the more emotional and personal the issues that arise seem to get. Will the boys be able to protect each other, the people and the city they love? Or, will they fall to the unkindness of a new gang and suffer? I own nothing except for my OCs(yes, there are going to be a decent amount of OCs. Some you might recognize from There's A Life That's Worth the Living). Disney owns Newsies, both the Broadway and the original movie from 1992. I also do not own the title. That is from Carrying the Banner during the nun part. One of the Newsies sings it.

Spot and Race have been seeing each other since the end of the strike now in secret. It was their little secret, Nobody dared to question why Race was the only non-Brooklyn newsie who was allowed to sell in Brooklyn, why race would get caught in Brooklyn late at night because he was 'gambling' too long or it started to rain out and and he'd have to stay the night in the Brooklyn lodging house, why Race is the only person who could get Spot to show his soft side. Brooklyn Kelly, Jack Kelly's little sister, is a performer at Medda's theater. She is dating Ezra Landon, a fellow performer, and has been for about a year. She believes that things are steady between them, and even thinks they will be married within the next few years, until she discovers her boyfriends terrible secret. Filled with grief and sadness, she stops performing for a while, wanting desperately to get away from Ezra. Instead, she busies herself helping her brother and friends prepare for the newsies strike. And that's when she meets the life-changing Spot Conlon. At first, she fears falling in love with him, not wanting to go through the same thing with him that she did with Ezra. But she soon realizes that not every boy is like that, and begins to fall in love with the boy with red suspenders.

Not as many people are out on the streets, which means not as many people are there to buy papes. Money gets scarce and it's not like any of them can afford a winter coat. Wintertime is chaotic enough as it is, but when you're a newsboy trying to juggle a forbidden relationship, the death of many friends, and the return of a psychotic family member? Yeah, things can get a little... destructive. Story length: 27,730 ------------------------------ THERE IS A BREAKDOWN OF THE MOVIE VS MUSICAL AT THE VERY END WHERE I JUST DISSECT THE MOVIE AND WHATNOT. IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ME WHETHER OR NOT YOU READ IT, I JUST WANTED TO PUT IT OUT THERE. DISCLAIMERS: - These characters are not mine, they all belong to Disney (excluding a couple little side characters here and there) - The word 'queer' is used frequently towards the end. While I am fully aware that it is not always used as a slur, I just couldn't bring myself to have one of the boys say the 'f' word. (You know the one) - This is going to be a mix of the 1992 Newsies and the Broadway Newsies, so I apologize in advance if you get a little confused. I just can't decide which is better, but for some characters I can only see them as the 1992 version or the broadway version. - Main difference: The relationship is going to be Jack and Katherine, meaning that neither Sarah nor Denton exist.
