Praise the Lord . Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord . Praise the Lord (Psalms 150:1‭-‬6 NIV). ___________________ © ℗ ® 2020 Wattpad

God makes it very clear in his word, the Bible, what He expects of us and how we should live. He makes it very clear how He rewards those who choose Him, and how He punishes those who choose sin. As Israel lives and grows in the promised land they feel a need for change and when agreements are harder and harder to find they decide on appointing a king as their leader. God wanted to be their 'king', but in making this decision Israel puts the fate of their country in their leaders hands. Just as we have good and bad leaders as our president, the Israelites deal with corruption, deception, greed, and also some really great men who fear God and lead them in the right direction. Regardless, it will quite the learning experience and with sin among them they will quickly see how hard it is to follow God's leadership and a ruthless king's leadership. Through studying these Bible times we will learn what works and what doesn't when forced to follow man's rules, and guidance. We will take away some very valuable lessons and will most importantly grow closer to God as we read how He reacts to all the kings do during their reign over Israel.

Forgive me if this sounds ungrateful, but I do not see how carrying the earth's largest and heaviest shield, for a ten-foot monster, up and down a hill twice a day, for more than forty days, is the opportunity of a lifetime. But why should my opinion on it matter anyway? My opinion means nothing. I mean nothing. My life is pointless. Worthless. Useless. ~A short monologue telling the story of David and Goliath from the perspective of Goliath's shield barrer~ Quick Note: This monologue was something I wrote in an assignment for my Creative Writing class. My teacher complimented it, I enjoyed writing it, and so I figured it might be fun to post here! I've left the story untouched since I first wrote it (besides a few grammar and spelling mistakes), so what you'll be reading is the original product. Thanks for considering reading! She came for a fresh start. She found a prophecy. Shir thought she had left the sirens behind in Israel. After a lifetime of living under the shadow of conflict and war, the chance to be an exchange student at Columbia University felt like a lifeline- a promise of quiet libraries, normal friendships, and a life where her identity wasn't a battlefield. But the peace was an illusion. The first time she saw Peter, he was just a cute boy who caught her eye across a crowded lawn. The second time, he was the charismatic leader of the campus's fiercest anti-Israel protests, a firebrand who marked her as "the enemy" based solely on her passport. In his eyes, she isn't a student seeking peace; she's a target for his "bully-approved" rhetoric. Yet, as the campus tensions reach a breaking point, the political becomes personal- and then impossible. Strange phenomena begin to follow Shir through the historic halls of the university. Mysterious clues-appear where they shouldn't, and whispers of an ancient prophecy- far older than modern conflicts- begin to echo in her wake. Even more unsettling is Peter himself: for all his public hostility, he seems to know things about Shir's history that she hasn't even told herself. Can her own bloodline be the missing key the world is searching for? And to top it all of, there's Zaid, co-leader of 'free Palestine' movement. For a reason Shir can't understand, he's as much obsessive of her as he is dangerous. It seems like he is determined to claim her for a purpose she doesn't yet comprehend, and she is forced to look past the protests and the propaganda. Shir is determined to uncover the truth about her past, not knowing that her entire life is about to alter for good. In a world where her blood is a prize and her enemies are closer than they appear, Shir must decide who to trust: the boy who hates everything she is and represents, or the biblical destiny that has finally tracked her down.

'Campfire Conversations' are a collection of short stories retelling classic Bible stories from the old and new testaments. They follow two points of view: the POV of our story tellers, Martha and Lucius, and the POV of the people in the Bible accounts. These POVs are separated by the * symbol. 'David's Mighty Men' tells the story of three men in King David's army who went the extra mile to protect his kingdom and spark bravery in their fellows, when the Philistines had discouraged them all. For their courage and valiance, they earned themselves honourable mentions in 2 Samuel 23. These men are proof that trusting God for protection, and being bold even in times of tribulation, are qualities which only spread and sharpen those around you. When we are willing to risk it all, God can use us the most.
