Sigri, an old Sarvi is a banner-weaver who tells the story of her people with her needlework but has long since accepted that this story is about to end. But suddenly her quiet life is interrupted by humans who have been displaced by a volcanic eruption which destroyed their town. Alvara, their leader, tries to carve out a place for her people and asks the Sarvi for shelter. This uproots Sigri's quiet life as her fatalism is suddenly challenged by a woman refusing to give up even if adversity seems impossible to ever overcome.
