She hides her sorrow behind a smile and her hurt behind her optimistic attitude. She joined the cadets for one reason, and that reason was to not die a meaningless death just like everyone else in Shiganshina. Her goal was not to die behind these walls. The morning after Levi's best friend drags him to the ocean, Levi awakens with a horrible, wrenching pain in his gut. He had no idea why or what exactly his dream was about (he had some fuzzy recollections of the less important parts) but he did know that it didn't end well. The horrid, scratchy feeling in his throat and the sudden fear made Levi's body feel like it was being torn apart, a feeling he'd never experienced before. It was horrible; painful, and the moment Levi had sat up, he knew exactly why everything hurt. And that morning, the storm outside rattling against the sides of the house familiarly, Levi did something he'd never done before. He bent over, stuffing his head in his hands, and then he began to cry.

Do you know what it's like to be caged like an animal? Aaliyah Verdeck knows what it's like. She hates it. She hates the titans even more. She told herself when she was 10 that she would kill them. ⚠WARNING: SPOILERS FROM THE MANGA⚠️ (Unknown P.O.V.) I hear strange voices all around me. Their frustrated tones gives me the impression that they're arguing about something. "Are you out of your mind?! It's dangerous to be housing them here! We don't know if they can be trusted!" "What choice do we have! What would you rather do, leave them stranded in titan territory?" These people keep referring to a 'them,' I wonder who that is. "Right, but what do we do if they wind up to be a bunch of shifters? They could kill us all!" "So let's kill them right now and get this over with! I don't want to take any chances." The floor creaked and a sudden metallic clang echoed throughout the room. My heart began to race. I'm not too sure, but I think I must be one of them. And I don't think I'll last much longer like this. I tried with all my might to move my body. I have a feeling I'll be dead if I don't move. But there is one big problem, I can't move.
