A collection of my Yakuza headcanons.

It starts with a cigarette, as it always seems to between them now. Shiraishi is 32 and living on his own for the first time in his life. Going from a street orphan to nothing more than a product to sell, to the blade you fear in the dark, he has no clue how to live a normal life. He's a dog, a guard, a broken sentinel. He starts with a job, and a wardrobe, and goes from there. If that wardrobe consists of a lot of women's clothes, who's to blame him these days? Kiryu is 37 and trying to get his life together not for the first time, but with more purpose this time. Leaving the family was one thing sure, but raising a child was something else entirely. Haruka was all he thought about these days; how to raise her, how to love her, how to give her a better life than he ever had. He was determined to give her a good life, and if that meant a man in six-inch heels was also in his life, then so be it. Truthfully, he was a bit too attached to the man in the first place. He quietly sorted through the piles of pre-packaged underwear sets, unconsciously chewing at his inner bottom lip, his brows creased together and you smiled to yourself. Unless he was sleeping, there never seemed to be a time that his hardened exterior wasn't intimidating to the untrained eye. He held underpants that wouldn't even fit his calf and his hand was large enough to cover the entire package and then some. Yet, beneath this large, threatening exterior was a gentle, caring man who was trying very hard to make the best choices for his kids.

He'd been chomping at the bit for an opportunity to go toe to toe with the man that had wreaked such havoc onto his life. He wasn't sure what he'd expected but surely, it wasn't this.

The young Dragon of Dojima has long since proved capable and willing to fight alone.
