Kitsunami the Fennec and his partner Surge the Tenrec had just finished a long and hard battle against Sonic, Tails, Dr. Eggman, and Metal Sonic. Exhausted from the fight, Kitsunami carried Surge in his arms and ran until they found a safe place to rest. He eventually stumbled upon a cave, where he could rest and recover in peace. Inside, Kitsunami and Surge cuddled together, taking a moment to catch their breath and relax in the safety of the cave. With no one around to bother them, the two were able to take a much-needed break from the soon chaos of the outside world.

hi I'm very neurodivergent about Surge the Tenrec lately so I wrote this little story in which she endures some character development. the art is mine.

This is my first Sonic Fanfic and it is all AU

Basically, most of the Sonic characters live under the same roof in a boarding house. And the landlord is Kitsunami the Fennec because he needs LOVE and ADORATION and RESPECT. In this AU, they have the tech of the 21st century, but they are NOT humanized because human AUs freak me out (no offense, human AU writers!). They all have jobs, and some wild crap happens, including romance... (hint hint) You can make requests for what should happen if you want, but you don't have to!

Engineered in a sterile lab by the spoiled, perfectionist Dr. Starline, Haz (17), Surge (15), and Kit (10) were created for one purpose: to replace Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. But Starline severely underestimated the free will of his first prototype. Haz-a deadpan, agender long-eared hedgehog with a strict three-strike rule for their pronouns-broke out of stasis, rescued their younger biological siblings, and fled into the deep woods. Now, they live life on their own terms: roughing it under a camp tent, scraping together golden rings for survival, and healing from intense laboratory trauma over midnight stashes of spicy hot chips, raindrop cakes, and crunchy crystal jelly gems. They are the ultimate antihero pack. They don't mind ruining the Freedom Fighters' plans, and Haz will happily land a heavy, earth-shattering punch right to Sonic's cocky face. But their peaceful outlaw life is under contant threat. Between dodging the clever, shape-shifting criminal Mimic the Octopus, they suddenly find themselves hunted by a terrifying new apex predator: Null. He is a walking void wolf who steals powers, howls at the full moon, and tracks them entirely by scent. Can three runaway teenagers defend their campsite from the ultimate cosmic threat? Or will they find out that the terrifying void demon just needs a little bit of bacon and a belly rub to become part of the family?

This story follows Surge the Tenrec and Kitsunami the Fennec (characters from IDW Sonic Comics), beginning after Starline's death. It tells how these two weapons experience a life unimaginable to either of them: genuine bonds, a place that feels like home, completely unfamiliar traditions, and people who believe that even monsters can change. A story about second chances, secrets, and learning to choose who you want to be when the world has already decided for you. WARNING: Contains Kiturge/Surge x Kit (fanon: Surge is 12, Kit is 8; no sex). If you're not comfortable with this, stop at chapter 22. From there, the story becomes more explicit.
