Elaena Hightower is forced to marry prince Maekars second son Aerion she did not fight or try to stop to she just nodded and her father new that was a bad sign but ignored it. Elaena wasn't the only one to be betrothed to a royal son her younger sister was forced to be with Aegon v Rhea didn't fight either as she knew her duties and would follow and respect them. The sisters were together in this but Elaena suffered more as Aerion wasn't one for kindness whereas Aegon v was a decent man towards Rhea and they respected each other.
