The War for Cybertron took a heavy toll, with the Autobots barely defeating the Decepticons and the All Spark being split and sent to the stars. Ultra Magnus and some key lieutenants were left commanding Cybertron, while Optimus Prime, and his children, searching for the All Spark. After Steller Cycles of silence, most, if not all, were declared off-line. Then a portion the All Spark was found by a low ranking Autobot survey team and it took them to a small unknown planet called Earth, where they were followed by the Decepticons and, after a battle, the portion of the All Spark was destroyed, leaving Hot Rod and his team to answer to the Elite Guard. There, with the help of a team of Autobot Elite Guards and the planet's freedom fighters, they fight to free the planet from Mindwipe and a far more dangerous and ancient threat.

With the Maximals having corrupted the monster planet Unicron from a healer of planets to a devourer of worlds, the Predacons are forced to abandon their home in order to protect the Trans-Warp Key. Millions of years later, half of the key is rediscovered as 2 humans team up with the Decepticons and the Predacons to find a way to free Unicron from Nemesis Primal's control before their home and the entire Universe is destroyed.
