After another attempted failure in creating a cure for his sickly granddaughter, Maria, Professor Gerald Robotnik was getting desperate. His star pupil, Doctor Maci Garcia, offered a solution, creating the Ultimate Cure, Project: EMBER. Under the guidance of her professor, Doctor Maci was successful in creating Project: EMBER. Not ready to be introduced to the others, Ember was kept away in a different place in the Ark. When her test results came up with a high success rate for a cure, she was soon introduced to Maria, Abe, and Shadow. And thus a somewhat beautiful friendship blossomed. But it didn't last for long.

The third season chronicles Sonic and his friends, including Chris, befriending an anthropomorphic green plant-like girl named Cosmo, reuniting with a lost parent of Stella, while facing off against Drake and an evil robotic alien army called the "Metarex". In memory of the late James Carter Cathcart and Rachel Lillis.
