A small town called Runner located in Maine, is haunted by the presence of the "Boogie Man". A group of high school teen who know nothing of each other, must trust each other to survive.

Mari has had a bad childhood: she got bullied a lot and her parents never listened to her. She always hated talking about herself. Her friends understood, but never stood up for her. Mari also went through a time where everyone she loved withered away, that made her feel even worse. She suffered from depression for a long time, until she met Wes. Wes was the new guy at school and became the most popular guy in school in less than 30 seconds. Wes was the positive guy at school and one of the teacher's pets. When Wes met Mari, Wes was alarmed by Mari's bad attitude and promised to do anything to help her. Anything.

The squad each got accepted to college, outside from their town, they're on their own. They're free! Left to make their own adult decisions and grow in their own unrestrained way. Maybe even, growing up without each other. Olivia feels as though she needs to match up to Courtney's speed. However, she doesn't know if it's the right idea, or if what she's feeling is normal. When she decides to talk to Courtney's ex, she makes a decision and finally, talks to her girlfriend. Noah and Keith are talking more and more about their futures, and much to everyone's dismay, decide to break it off in favor of a break. Shayne, being caught in the middle of his friends having relationship issues, he decides to get away from them to breathe for a few moments.

Defy is a strict highschool that everyone who lives in section s. Defy has a strict policy of segregation. Every single one of Defy's students are put in a category, Producer: they make music for the school/company, Dancer: they dance for the school/academy.
