Maybe he's after another doppelganger to kill? Or maybe he just doesn't want to be alone? I guess no one will know. What happens when all the Original vampires come to town. What will happen if they all fall in love her? Will Angelina be able to handle her sister being sacrificed? Will Elena be able to handle her sister being in a love triangle?
