Twin brothers Lance and Lane lose their mother young, then their grandmother, before finding a permanent home with Toto and Kanit. Told largely from Lance's perspective, the novel follows their slow trust in two fathers, matching beds and first words like "home," school friendships that shape each boy's passions, and the arrival of siblings Jet and San. As young adults, Lance chooses business and Lane chooses infocomm technology, not to follow their fathers' careers but to build something entirely their own, together, across any distance.
