Kousei Arima, despite his musical talent, lived fourteen years of mostly devastation, with occasional respite with his "sister" Tsubaki and the notorious Watari. At first, he attributed his change in spirit to the arrival of the capricious, passionate Kaori Miyazono. But what if a kick from his childhood best friend and "sister" causes him to reframe things and transition into life without a certain blonde? Credits to whomever created the photo of Tsubaki and Kousei; I created the frame and caption, but I did not do the editing to get Tsubaki and Kousei together this way.

All of his life, Kousei Arima was a boy that was just about automatic as you could get when playing the piano. Then, one day, a free-spirited violinist comes into her life...... ....but then, Kousei finds out his fate may be in jeopardy. What will become of Kaori? Tsubaki? Watari? And most importantly, Kousei's rivals? Will Kousei be able to express his feelings towards Kaori, and can she save Kousei from his hell before it is too late? ----- As you can tell, this is an alternate retelling of Your Lie in April. But the fates have been reversed (and before you ask, Kousei is the ill one, not Kaori, who is far from that in this story), which will make for quite a gripping, if not heart-wrenching story, maybe more so than the original. NOTE: This is a longer, extended version of my original HLiA fanfic I wrote back in 2019. ----- "I met the girl under full-bloomed cherry blossoms, and my fate has begun to change..... .....but my fate may now be in jeopardy." ----- (BTW, the Japanese title substitutes one kanji for another. "Kimi" becomes "Kare".)

It's a new year and everyone is now a high school first year. Kaori's operation was successful and the doctor said she had another five years to live. She and Kousei are enjoying all the time they have together by performing and hanging out after school. After falling down the stairs at school near the end of her second high school year, she fears things are going to go downhill again. !!!EDITS WILL USUALLY HAPPEN AT RANDOM TIMES IN RANDOM ORDER!!!

She looked faded, blending into her surroundings, and each time Kousei blinked, she would flicker away for a moment, only to return back. As though she were desperate to stay where she wasn't meant to be. She smiled at him. "There you are. I've been waiting for you." Kousei couldn't breathe. - In which Kousei cannot say goodbye, clinging with everything he has to what little he has left.

What if Kaori didn't die? What if her operation had worked? Kaori's operation was a success, and she will keep living on this Earth. Except for one tiny thing - she only has fifty days to make her life count. With the Kanjotsu Piano Competition coming up - a Japanese piano competition that is guaranteed to prepare Kousei for the Chopin Competition - can Kaori help Kousei to win before she passes away?
