It shows his process and journey of coping and healing and uncovering some mysteries. This will not be accurate for everyone's experiences and will obviously have very fictional aspects with MHA's quirky world, but I will try to make it realistic as I have my own experiences. This is not to romanticize, but bring awareness or recognition and for me to personally cope when seeing stories with things I've experienced. You are not alone 🫶

Set in Malibu, California Eijiro Kirishima and Katsuki Bakugo have been best friends since 8th grade when Katsuki decided to become a better person. Since the day the became friends they've benefited each other in ways no one else could for them. Now as the 2 of them enter their senior year of high school and Eijiro has fully accepted that the feelings he has towards Katsuki are more than just friendship. But while hes afraid to ruin what they have and is convinced it will always be one-sided, he tries to date someone else it sparks something between him and Katsuki that will change the course of everything.

Eijirou never planned on falling in love. Especially not with Katsuki Bakugou. The drummer of their band is everything Eijirou should stay away from-sharp-tongued, emotionally unavailable, constantly smoking, and seemingly allergic to anything that resembles romance. Katsuki has never been the type to settle down, and everyone knows it. Unfortunately for Eijirou, the moment they met, something clicked. What starts as late-night conversations, shared rides home, and endless teasing quickly turns into something much more dangerous for Eijirou: feelings. The problem? Katsuki doesn't seem interested. Or at least that's what he wants everyone to think. While Eijirou tries to move on from his growing crush, misunderstandings, secret relationships, band drama, and one very embarrassing assumption about Katsuki and his childhood best friend leave him more confused than ever. But the closer they get, the harder it becomes for Katsuki to keep up his act. Because despite his reputation, despite all his walls, despite how much he insists he doesn't do relationships... Katsuki finds himself falling. And somehow, he's falling even harder. Now caught between friendship, fear, and feelings neither of them knows how to handle, Eijirou and Katsuki must figure out whether what they have is worth risking everything they've built together. After all, it's easy to play hard to get. It's a lot harder when you're secretly in love too.

A blaring alarm is heard from the dorms. Everyone tries to figure out what's going on, but next thing they know, they're stuck in their dorms for who know how long. The war between heroes and villains has finally ended. The kids at UA are trying to live as normally as they can after the incident. Kirishima was well know for being mr sunshine all throughout of UA. No matter the situation, there was always a sharp, toothy smile coming from the red haired boy. It came as a surprise to everyone when the happiest boy in the year befriended the grumpiest boy in the school who snarled and cursed at anyone who dare get too close, but with a smile like his people accepted it quickly. What they don't realise is what hides underneath the surface. Despite kirishimas' efforts at convincing people that Bakugo wasn't as bad as he perceived himself to be, everyone turned a blind eye. They only see what is on the surface, what they're presented with. They don't consider what is festering beneath it. The fear, anger, trauma is all hidden behind his shark like smile. And kirishima intends to keep it that way. --------------------------- Beneath the red are roots of black which hold memories that Eijiro refuses to hold onto. Before entering UA, kirishimas family fell apart. With a narcissistic father and a depressed mother, Eijiro learnt how to care for himself... which he didn't do too well. In the heat of his parent's divorce he was stolen away, not found until 8 months later. From then, hospital visits were regular, unbeknownst to anyone outside his family and a certain underground hero. Through support, and the meeting of a new friend, kirishima makes his way through the entrance exams! Everything goes well till he finds himself in bandages after a secret mission and a fight with Rappa. That's when he knew hiding the roots would be much harder than he had anticipated. Every turn they make seems to throw them into more and more danger as the pair struggle to stay both safe and sane. When push comes to shove, the boys are there for each other. No matter if it's something like coming out as trans or running into the lov, nothing can tear them apart. A bit of a mental health tw, because this has a heaping handful of angst.
