Nicks Cooper, is the descendant of a long line of master thieves, all of whose members had recorded their knowledge in an old book which is the « Master of Volus ». In this family, a tradition is that all heirs of the Cooper clan receive this book as an heritage. When Nicks' turn comes, five visitors interrupt the ceremony. Nicks' father hides his son in the closet and tries to defend himself. But the troublemakers, who call themselves « The Five Sons of the Dragon » took over, and the leader of the gang kills his father in front of his son. After finding where the book is hidden, they tear the book into five parts, each keep one, and disappear. Sad and lonely, Nicks is placed in an orphanage, where he meets two other orphans. The first is a computer genius named "Jack", and the second a pro pilot who answers by the name of "Angelo". From their first meeting, they sympathize and become inseparable. When Nicks tells them his story, they swear together to hunt down the Five Sons of the Dragon, to avenge Nicks' father, and to recover all of the "Master of Volus" pages.
