This poetry series speaks for the people reduced to categories, numbers, and assumptions. It challenges what we're taught to ignore-and asks a simple question: When did we stop seeing each other as human?

This is my story about overcoming labels that are given throughout High School. Everyone is remembered by what group they are in, who they hang out with, and what they do with those people. In this story of mine, I will also mention how I realized why I had to overcome these labels and what effect they have on people.

Industrial equipment and labels is the only two things they share: They both are designed to ensure that manufacturing is successful. Industrial environments are prone to dangers. For instance, high-voltage electricity can make you incapacitated, heavy machinery could exert crushing force and caustic chemical substances can make skin blind and eat away at it and extreme heat may cause third-degree burns. Industrial workers wear safety glasses, hardhats and gloves, as well as steel -toed boots as well as other personal protection equipment (PPE) to safeguard them. However, among them all industrial labels can be among the most essential components of PPE.

Labels. People give a label to everything. Old. New. Young. Old. Rich. Poor. Smart. Dumb. Pretty. Ugly. Hero. Villain. But how, in this world, do we really know what we are? Sometimes we have multiple labels...sometimes only one. But are we really what people label us to be? Or are we completely different? How can people even know what we are when they aren't us?
