Especially from his homophobic father, who hated John for being gay. John battled depression and suicidal thoughts for years before his father decided John was too disgusting to live with his own family anymore. Alexander Hamilton saw nothing wrong with his life. Sure, his father left when he was 10 years old, but he had his mother, who worked hard and taught Alex that the only way to get anywhere in this world was to work for what he wanted. His mother always made enough money to support the two of them, and Alex adopted that work ethic when he moved out of his mom's home. A cozy apartment, a good job with long hours to distract his time with, and a good set of friends. Yeah, his life wasn't too bad. Both men's lives changed one day in a pouring rainstorm. A chance encounter leads to an act of kindness, and so much more.
