It is commonly considered when a child reaches the crossroads of his or her life, that the career that would be selected would be a matter of pride and achievement for the whole family. Typically a youngster is conditioned to believe that the ' respectable ' careers are in the categories of medicine, engineering, software, aeronautical and scientific fields. A few parents encourage fine arts and some into hotel management, interiors, and architecture. But when it comes to fashion many eyebrows are raised and the very mention of fashion as a career is ridiculed. Why may we ask? What are the generic impressions and opinions so as to speak? First and foremost, awareness! What is truly lacking still is a sense of awareness and the seriousness of fashion. Fashion is a humungous billion dollar industry employing millions of people worldwide and generating an infinite amount of revenue. Parents of students who are on the threshold of seeking admission into professional courses need to be informed about the scope of this progressive and fast-growing field. Children who are artistically inclined and those who want to digress into prospective careers of their choice should be motivated to select the course to their liking. Peer pressure and social expectation urge parents to push their offspring into career choices they not necessarily like. Today it is about what one is made for rather than what one should become. It is regressive to pressure the student towards a profession that he is not inclined to.

It has been said many times over that fashion in India is still in its nascent ( infant) stage when compared to her western counterparts. I would say fashion in India has certainly crossed its nascent stage but the Indian impression and perception about fashion is warped. It is not that Indians do not know or comprehend what fashion all over the west is. They are certainly very aware of this genre but when it comes to themselves personally they prefer to stick to a comfort zone. Let us analyze why. Indians travel like there is no tomorrow. There is certainly a lot of cash flow and to say that India is a poor country where there are other more important issues is passed. The Indian consumer certainly is a buyer of top international brands but the number of people who purchase clothing from luxury brands is lesser than the ones who buy accessories. The reason being the Indian body structure does not call for international silhouettes and so there is a major preference for eyewear, bags, perfume, and shoes. Garment-wise we still stick to a familiar turf wherein the ethnic ensemble dominates our wardrobes. What may work for a buyer in Europe has to be slightly tweaked for somebody in India based on their utilitarian habits. Indians may not possess the same pace of acceptance of a new product when compared to another buyer in a southeast Asian country. Indians do follow fashion but largely after seeking approvals or sometimes under peer pressure. It is always obvious that Indians implement the - I wear what I am comfortable with- attitude. Now comforts translate into habits and habits into stagnation and an inability to see themselves in anything apart from the tried and tested route. They do not still want to venture off the trodden path. While images all over our tabloids show us various ways to dress and the society pages are agog with celebrities being so experimental, it does not signify India as a whole.

Translucent Concrete Translucent concrete is a material with light transmission. This is because to optical fibers are embedded in it. The optical fiber is made to go through the complete object we get light patterns on the other surface. Translucent concrete combines the strength of concrete with the properly making light pass through it. Sensing tile is material which lights up when we walk on it. There are several manufacturers of these heat sensitive tiles which are concrete embedded with optical fibers and can respond to shadow and heat of the human body, the light sensors in them make the tiles glow. For example in the night you need to go to the refrigerator, the sensing tile will light up your path sensing your shadow. Electrified Wood Electrified wood is pressed with two integrated conducting layers make electricity flow. With this wood synthesis is made by combining wood and electricity and Furniture like chairs, tables, lamps and shelves create relationships that was hitherto not possible because cable and other lighting fixtures that were needed may lose their use. Rich-lite is made with 70 % recycled paper. The counter tops are made by treating paper with a resin, and then baking it to create solid sheets. Rich-lite was first used in the aerospace, boating, and sports industries as reinforcement for surfaces like fiberglass, but now is available for architectural purposes as well. This cement is mixed with micro capsules that release a glue-like epoxy resin that will automatically repair any cracks that form in the concrete. In addition this cement will have the ability to regulate heat. Phase-change materials that can absorb or release large amounts of heat have also been included in the ingredients. Carbon fiber is an extremely strong, lightweight material. It's five times as strong as steel, two times as stiff, yet weighs about two thirds less.

Everyone wants to get their home designed for it to be functional and beautiful in minute detail. It is a human need that is inherent and important. A designed space takes into account all the functionality and makes it aesthetic too. One needs to keep in mind many things for all the areas of the home while designing it. Broadly a good Interior design has to be based on following elements, Space, Line, Form, light, Texture, Pattern, and Color. Space Space is the most important elements of interior design. The entire interior design is made around it. Space is divided into two types namely - Two Dimensional Spaces which covers the floor and Three Dimensional Spaces which forms the living. A space that is essentially filled with furniture items is an affirmative Space and an empty space is a downbeat Space. A visual balance must be maintained between the affirmative and downbeat spaces and either overcrowding or skimping on the furniture/décor items is going to affect this equilibrium. Line Lines create forms and establishing a sense of harmony, contrast, and unity in a living space. They are visual guides for an interior space. Lines are Horizontal, Vertical and Dynamic. Horizontal lines embellish furniture like tables, chairs, and beds, vertical lines are windows, doorways, and almirahs. While horizontal lines add a safe and secure feeling to the space, vertical lines make space expansive in nature. Dynamic or angular lines, add drama and motion can be seen on structures like stairs. A person designing makes use of these lines to define the forms.
