Ṛṡyaśṛṅga guesses that his visitor Alambusā is a woman, a human dimorphic to himself. However, Alambusā dislikes to have a womanly body, preferring to be a man. Alambusa Ārśyaśṛṅgi is the name of a Rākṣasa warrior in Mahābhārata: Alambusa, son of Ṛśyaśṛṅga. My story of the conversation between his parents Alambusā and Ṛśyaśṛṅga builds upon details found in Mahābhārata and Alambusā-jātaka. Unlike other versions of Ṛśyaśṛṅga's story (Mahābhārata and Naḷinikā-jātaka) in which he is the principal character and his misgendering of a sensual woman with masculine and ascetic attributes is humourous, Alambusā-jātaka focusses on Alambusā's spirituality, humility, and extraordinary beauty that Ṛśyaśṛṅga mostly recognizes as feminine. My story inverts Alambusā's motives along with gender identity. The title is Pāḷi and means "Mixed Alambusā Wants Ṛśyaśṛṅga To Mix." Similar words are repeated in the verses of Alambusā-jātaka, but I have changed their inflection from feminine to masculine. The second chapter tells the story of the duel between Bhīma's son Ghaṭotkaca and Duryodhana's son Lakṣmaṇa. Cover credit: oye_nakhrewaali of India Forums

Five times Rama hears of Sita, and one time he talks about her himself. . . . This is written for @sleepingpotential on tumblr, who sent me this prompt: hi, can i request something? i was thinking that we don't get to see rama hearing about sita (who's miraculous birth and deeds must have been stories that spread to ayodhya as well as other kingdoms) before they meet as we do see sita hearing about rama and admiring him in adaptations. so, it would be great if you could write an au on 5 times rama heard about sita and 1 time he told someone about her (maybe luv-kush or hanuman/the vanaras). thank you!

Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa inspired the stories in this collection to answer questions such as these: What would Rāma have thought about a monument to mark his janmabhūmi? Why did Rāma tell Bharata that the kingdom was Kaikeyī's bride-price? How did Hanumat get the idea that Rāvaṇa never abducted any unwilling or married woman before Sītā? Why did the luminous herbs disappear when Hanumat came for them? At what age were Rāma and Sītā exiled? Did Hanumat witness Dhānyamālinī or Mandodarī distracting Rāvaṇa from Sītā? How could Mahodara and Mahāpārśva return to battle after they were slain? The title is Saṃskṛta and means "Recognize Ayodhyā In The Wilderness," which was part of Sumitrā's advice to Lakṣmaṇa in Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa. The first six chapters are Drabbles of exactly 100 words, and the next eight chapters are Microtales of 15 words. Much later, I added another Drabble as the fifteenth chapter. Each story is based on Vālmīki's Rāmāyaṇa, and supported with citations from the text. Cover Credit: average-student of India Forums, using images from Chitra Ramayana by Balasaheb Pant Pratinidhi.
