It's 2017, and a 16-year-old Alexander Hamilton stands in front of King's College. This was all he'd ever dreamed of. After his mother died, he'd made a promise to never give up his dreams. He was going to study law and maybe grow a bit. He sighed. A new start.

John Laurens was a 19 year old transgender college student. He had started transitioning around 14, and got top surgery when he turned 18. He rarely discussed the fact that he was transgender, and for his own safety, he only told close relatives and friends he trusted. Alexander was a 20 year old college student. He was raised in a strict Christian family where he was taught that it was a sin to sleep with the same gender, and/or change your body. Due to that, he developed internalized homophobia.
