Lams Highschool AU Alex has never had a permanent home, after he was orphaned, he was sent to countless foster homes. As he started to give up hope on ever finding a forever home, he finally seemed to strike gold, he found a nice family with steady jobs and a nice house, that is until an unfortunate event leads Alex to believe that this town might not be so perfect after all. John Laurens was a 19 year old transgender college student. He had started transitioning around 14, and got top surgery when he turned 18. He rarely discussed the fact that he was transgender, and for his own safety, he only told close relatives and friends he trusted. Alexander was a 20 year old college student. He was raised in a strict Christian family where he was taught that it was a sin to sleep with the same gender, and/or change your body. Due to that, he developed internalized homophobia.
