Wei Wuxian has always insisted that he's fine. After his punishment in the Cloud Recesses as a teenager, after spending three months in the Burial Mounds with nothing but the spirits of the dead, even after coming back from the dead himself. He's always been fine. Lan Wangji has never fully believed it, has always given him a look of doubt even as he accepted the other man's words. But tonight, Lan Wangji's doubts are proven.

What would have happened if Mo Xuanyu had traded his soul for Wei Wuxian's only a few weeks after the Yiling Patriarch's demise rather than sixteen years later? Would he be forgiven? Would his nephew grow up with another uncle to protect him? Would Jiang Cheng allow his brother forgiveness? Would Wangji have Wei Ying back by his side?
