They face obstacles such as misunderstandings, jealousy, and betrayal. In this dungeons and dragons inspired story, two boys find their town invaded by monsters as well as finding that the only remaining townsfolk seem to be in some sort of god complex. They flee and meet an adventure party on the way to the seemingly perfect Merrimarsh. Merrimarsh doesn't end up being all that, and their lives get rough and they have to fight to survive.

Zander Wickham is a young, feisty, sarcastic teenager with scars that almost no one knows about. Luke Peterson is a teenager living a normal life, though he's far from content.
