Sophie is known as the "joke" to her pack because she's small and hasn't shifted yet. If she doesn't find her mate or shift by her 18th birthday she will be kicked out of the pack and become a rouge. Sophie has few friends but they are all misfits in their own way. She has been rejected her whole life so it's no surprise that when she finds her mate he rejects her.
