In "We Are the Homeland," Kaj Siab, a Hmong American born in Fresno, journeyed to Laos in search of cultural belonging and understanding. While volunteering as a teacher for rural Hmong students, she reconnected with her heritage, language, and identity. Through heartfelt interactions and personal reflection, she shifted her life path from engineering to education, choosing meaning and cultural restoration over external expectations. The experience affirmed that home wasn't just a place, it was the people and the history she chose to claim as her own.
