This will be a human AU. i do not own the artwork for the cover image, that's how I perceive Lapis and Pearl as humans, so that's how I want them perceived in this story, HOWEVER feel free to imaging your own headcanon for them, even as their normal gem forms if you wish. I haven't decided if I'll make the characters bi/pan/gay yet but I might decide with fan comments.
