Latesummer Stories

I wrote as my escape, i hope you enjoy it and i hope someone out there feels seen. When I wrote this book, I had imageries appearing in my head. A woman who sits on a concrete wall where her lover used to rest their head. Wondering where your life went on a late summers evening. Briefly forgetting your life as you feel the adrenaline of plunging into ice-cold water outdoors as seagulls fly over your head. Being stuck between the past and future, and the fear of the present that comes with it. I wanted this book to feel like reflecting on your life in late summer, when you can walk through the streets at dusk and watch the sun fade being the buildings, just like you watched your life slip away. In this book I talk about learning to be okay with endings and change, enjoying everything; even the bad, trusting the process and learning what to hold onto and what to let go.

"Sorry", Sunghoon started off, tracing the back of his left hand, a habit he knew like his own, "I didn't know if I would get to talk to you" "Yeah, we've been good at that the past 4 years", Jake added with a strained laugh, surprised at his own words. Something flashed behind Sunghoon's eyes, some kind of nervous tension, one he saw way too many times before. Before his piano recital, before asking his dad if Jake could stay at his place, before he kissed him in the parking lot beside his family's truck for the first time. He felt like he was seventeen again, sharing kisses that tasted like way too much cheap wine and cherry coke. A sigh left Jake's lips, one he couldn't keep to himself. "It was easier being mad at you when you weren't standing two feet away" Well. ---- (A story about trying to fix things that remained unresolved for way too long)

This is a late summer story. And I'm not saying it because I first thought about it around that time but because our main character, Ren, a japanese boy from the countryside is having his most cringe, joyful, hard times around that beautiful time of the year. and it wasn't going to happen if a wrong boy didn't move in to the right place. In this book of mine, I tried to leave more space for things that mutter the most. Like friendship and childhood. It was a magnificent spectacle of creation. Casey was born and rise in a small beach valley where he meet Kevin her lover, it was summer so she believe that was her summer love that will life time but not until Kevin left her.
