Between 2011 and 2014, I wrote a set of poems that eventually became a Spanish manuscript titled Talón, part of a three-book series (Talón - Planta - Punta) intended for simultaneous publication. However, my inability to complete the manuscript of Punta, which focused on meta-poetry and meta-language, led me to pursue other projects. I later decided to begin translating some of my work, and over time, the act of translation became an exercise in rewriting the poems themselves. This is how Talón became Distentio Animi.

Two women, Elena Castillo Flores and Adora Eros, have come together to debate this issue on public access television on a program hosted by a Latina woman, Amanda Lopez. When Nataly returns to Puerto Rico, it's supposed to be a brief pause-one last breath before moving on. But the island has other plans. A night of music and color shatters under a sudden earthquake, and in the chaos, Nataly locks eyes with a stranger whose presence feels disturbingly familiar. As she digs into the roots of her family's past, Nataly uncovers a land bound by secrets, betrayal, and a sacred tree pulsing with ancestral power. The deeper she gets, the clearer it becomes: nothing about her return is coincidence. And neither is the boy with the haunted eyes. Some inherit money. Some inherit land. Nataly inherited a curse.

The new school year awaits at Elite Way School! Mexico's top prestigious private school where anyone who's anyone attends in Latin America. Mia Colucci is the top girl at Elite Way, she's beautiful, kind, and a little bit conceited. As long as things stay her way it should go well for you. Unless you're Roberta, the punk, foul mouth, ball of fury who's ready to shake up this term with her brash attitude and group of scholarship newbies who are here to take over the school's hierarchy. Can things get any worse for Mia? Oh yea, she also has to deal with Daddy's new body guard Miguel that follows her around school. Who does that cowboy think he is? Dealing with Roberta, the scholarships, her best friends, Daddy, and Christmas charity event should be enough! It's enough to get split ends! But Robert won't back down, no tricks from La Logia, snot nose Mia, or elitist prince Diego and his minions will stop Roberta from changing the rules of Elite Way. Are you Team Elite or Team Rebel? Disclaimer: This is purely a fan fiction remake of a once popular Mexican telenovela/musical band called Rebelde or RBD from 2004-2006! These are not my characters! I just wanted to give them better story arch and character development that the telenovela itself neglected. RBD was a 440 episodic novella that was hypersexualized and dealt with the issue of messy plot and rushed/forgotten characters/storylines which made it really difficult for me to watch as an adult! But I love their music and I love the main 6! So this is just as if the creators decided to come to me for a Netflix remake (as if) and help fix things up.

What was he doing here? No. WHY was he here? There was only one reason for his appearance. This was not a terrible accident nor a natural death. Someone had killed her... When I breathlessly stood a few inches away from him, the worried expression on his face said it all, this was for vengeance. Blood for blood. This is not how I thought my life to be, but this precise moment was the one that defined my precedent. Cover by me. I do not own these pictures, they belong to their rightful owners. But the book cover editing it's all mine. ------------------------------------------------------ ©COPYRIGHTED by Paola I. Soto/iOnlyMakeDreams. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Luisa Mendoza is a poor Latina woman living in a rich white neighborhood. She does what she has to in order to get by, ignoring the rich white elites that live around her. The story contains references to racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia. Once the plot gets to it, there will be gore and abuse as well. If you're not comfortable with that, then my story isn't for you.
