Marlon stood a few feet away from me and I was right in front of him wearing a thin dress that barely covered my body.
He took a step towards me and I instantly took a step back. He stopped staring at my face for a trace of emotions. He broke the eerie silence, "Are you scared of me, baby?"
I shook my head. "I would never hurt you, and you know that."
"They all say that before hurting you," I said with a shiver in my tone brushing my arms with my hands for warmth.
I stared at his face and his gaze was soft almost like he feared that I was scared of him.
"I am not they, Zenaida", he rasped as he moved closer to me opening his arms to show me that he wanted me to come to him.
He moved closer and closer until he was towering over me and that's when he noticed that I was crying.
He raised his hand and gently held my face with his rough calloused hand which fit perfectly there like a missing puzzle piece.
He wiped away my tears with his thumb and leaned down to put his forehead against mine and I instantly calmed down from the contact.
I opened my eyes and they were instantly locked into his olive green eyes which weren't masked with the menacing dark glare they usually held but instead a soft gaze.
"I'm here," he whispered in my ears and a shiver escaped my slightly parted lips.
"You can talk to me or not, but I'm here for you baby", Marlon murmured as his hands slid down to touch my waist and instantly bringing me closer to his bare chest, our breaths steady and even.
In that moment, I knew he was everything I needed.
