It was softball season once again for the Pickles! Last one for their middle school lives, but with Laurie off the team and Yuwen maturing a bit after his relationship with Taylor, neither knew what to do with themselves as their upcoming school dance was just around the corner. The only thing they did know was that they weren't going alone.

A year has passed since Laurie quit softball, and until now she's had no free time due to homework. One day, however, her father came to ask her to come watch what would be the Pickles' first practice of the new season. Everyone is surprised and happy to see her again, while Yuwen is shocked. Shortly afterward, Yuwen asks Kai to follow him somewhere, but she decides to take the others with her, and Yuwen agrees. After entering an abandoned arcade, our protagonists find some virtual reality headsets, but they're more than just a video game. Will our little group of friends be able to get out? But most importantly, will Yuwen be able to overcome a trauma from his past caused by Laurie's withdrawal?

After the game and the victory at the pizzeria, the Pickles go home but Laurie tells her father that she would like to quit Softball since she doesn't think she's up to it. Her father reluctantly agrees, but neither of them had noticed that someone, who had returned to the pizzeria to get his phone, had heard them. Four years later the Pickles are still on track winning one game after another, and even if it doesn't seem like it, everyone has changed. In particular Yuwen who is now 17 years old, no longer wears a hat and his cocky attitude has vanished along with his mini me, which have been replaced by the behavior of a somewhat closed person. After finding a family secret Yuwen will do everything to find information about his, always hated, father who disappeared a few days after he was born. In doing this Yuwen did not know that he had run into a challenge that he did not know he would have to face.
