This is a guess of what may or may not have happened to the Hogwarts students of 1997-1998, Neville being the main character.

When the girls from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic take a trip to Hogwarts to spend the year for the Goblet of Fire, only a few are selected. 14 year old Carina Dubois is the kind to make sure she is one of them to go. Even though she is not of age, she finds a way into Hogwarts. Alongside Carina is her best friend Elaine Delacour and both girls' sisters. Carina finds that Hogwarts is everything she dreams it would be. Her very own Wonderland and escape from her reality. Out of anyone, Carina runs into a notorious blonde boy; Draco Malfoy. She feels oddly connected to him, and can't seem to stay away. The two of them find out that they have more in common than it seems. Carina's new life at Hogwarts was perfect, until it wasn't. But hey, anything seems to go in a different direction for a little french girl. A story about a french girl who wants to escape her life. A story about a boy who is insecure and scared. For this particular fic, the timeline for when the movies and television show came out is shifted back from what they were in real life, and despite being a major fan of Tolkien growing up, Hermione is unaware of the adaptions. And yes, this is satire/analysis of Rings of Power with the added footnote that I'm actually not white and a major fan of works such as Polly, which is a 1989 adaption of Pollyanna which was adapted asking the question of how would the narrative change if the characters were Black, rather than this ridiculous notion of making Pollyanna a Black girl to make it more accessible because it was recognized that the work was already accessible while taking into consideration how all the characters being Black would change the actual narrative. Oh, and this was written for Froday Flash Fiction's first Reguluar challenge for April which was greed, which ended up leading to this little piece.
