You were told to never return. Forced to take on the lifestyle of a human, you chose to take the form of a lost 13 year old kid. One evening while wandering around the streets, you ran into a stranger. Their silhouette was tall and slender... They decided to take you in. They brought you to what seemed to be an orphanage where you met this boy. You slowly began to care for this boy, but there was one problem...

You the reader have to choose where your loyalties lie. Will you stand by your childhood best friend, who is now on the path to becoming the greatest detective in the world? Or will you side with your new best friend, the super genius mass murderer he is investigating? if you wanted to self insert yourself into the plot of deathnote then I definitely think you should read this. mostly the same plot just following your point of view of getting pulled into the mix of everything. Triggers so far: bad grammer, swearing, A/N: Rewriten chapters 1-5 so expect much better writing,(thanks Grammarly) and better understanding of the story. Also expect those chapters to be much shorter than newer chapters since that was my writing style at the time.

L wasn't looking for a partner, but the Kira case proved to be too big of a challenge, and he wasn't prepared to face it alone. That was when he met Y/n. A smart, sarcastic, talkative boy with no self preservation and the same brilliant mind he had. It was hard to say no, so he didn't. What L wasn't able to calculate, were his feelings for Y/n.

As a mysterious serial killer called Kira begins executing criminals with heart attacks, you find yourself accompanying your oldest companion to Japan to try and solve this case. You could have sped the investigation up quite nicely if you wanted to. Perks of being a Shinigami's pet, you supposed, but since it was the first time you saw L so whole-heartedly invested in something you decided not to ruin his fun. You were sure he would manage to solve the case, even if the supernatural explanation offended his rational sensibilities. Of course, things get a little complicated when you find out Kira's identity through a series of events that involved two Shinigami walking into a café together-and no it wasn't a bad joke. (Though you were beginning to suspect that your life was one.) In this battle between L and Light, you were the girl with the key to either side's victory, yet you had no intention of ending the battle of wits prematurely. In fact, the one thing that these two geniuses can't seem to figure out is what you were after-and that makes them all the more interested in you.
