This book follows the journey of Grey Ethel, a thirteen year old student mage. His father is the most powerful Mage of the century, his mother is the second most powerful Mage and there are very high expectations of Grey to be the next most powerful Mage of the land, but their expectations are short lived as Grey lacks any enthusiasm and interest in the dealings and responsibility of a Mage - he is lazy, a coward and avoids any hard work and conflict but that soon changes as his classmates are kidnapped by an evil Sorcerer from the East....
