After Eugeo's death and Kirito's mental collapse during an attack on Rath's Ocean Turtle facility, the Underworld falls into chaos as the Dark Territory launches a massive invasion led by Gabriel Miller, who manipulates players from around the world into joining the conflict. Asuna, Sinon, and Leafa enter the Underworld using Rath's goddess super accounts, while Yasinel, having partially recovered his identity and memories through Rinko's STL-assisted rehabilitation at the hospital, logs in from there using a specialized high-authority account known as Ignis, a flame-based super account tied to large-scale combat and fluctlight synchronization.

Kazuto "Kirito" Kiriyaga/Narusaka, and his friends were enjoying themselves an ordinary day. Everything was fine, just playing ALO like a true group a of friends. Though it soon became a game of death their was still demand for Virtual reality video games. 2 in a half years later a system known as the seed was created allowing developers to create their own VRMMO. One of these games was Guns of Thunder online. A game where players and their friends form teams to crew tanks and battle it out.

The year is 2022. With technology advancing in every single field, humanity has been able to finally create a full virtual reality world, with all 5 senses intact. An immersive world where it feels like real life and has been the topic of news outlets all around the world. In the gaming industry, a specific kind of MMORPG was created to test that system. It's name, is Sword Art Online.
