My name is Malia Thomas and this is my story , the story of a girl who learnt to stand up for what she believed in.My favourite things to do used to basically consist of reading romantic books and watching sappy romantic comedies that make me want to cry because i knew i'd never experience that kind of love. I say used to because i'm not that little girl who'd sit in the corner and feel sorry for herself anymore. The death of my twin brother Marcus has shown me just how short life can be ,one minute you're here and the next you're not . I still remember the last words my brother spoke to me before i heard a loud bang on the other end of the call, he was pretty drunk so i assumed it was all just word vomit ,he had said to me that i needed to be strong, that i needed to stand up for myself ,that i needed to show those who are willing to get to know me what a remarkable person i was,he told me that he loved me and he needed me to stop living in the shadows of others because if i didn't i'd never bloom to my full potential . This is me making a change,trying to conquer my last year of high school,trying to make my brother proud.

All of these, that have been written here, tell the story of how I got to where I am today. The story of my relationships between those in my life. Relationships with my family, friends, and people who, I have learned, don't really care about me or others within my family. The struggles I have faced, along with the hard decisions I had to make in the short 18 years of my life. Each of these was created with all my heart. They were made to help me cope. It was a way for me to get my voice out. As well as to help me understand myself better. Aurora did not choose to live with her biological dad. She has siblings to take care of and a mother to protect from her abusive stepfather. But she isn't left with much of a choice. So here she is, awkward white trash transplanted to a cold mansion and sent to a private rich kid school. She'd never known her dad had money because she hadn't known her dad. It would have been nice to know when she'd been living in a roach-infested trailer eating Ramen. But she knows the guy who keeps breaking into her email account and working around the blocks on her phone. She knows very well what a lover like that will lead to. But some relationships can't be cut off cold turkey. She tries her best to get through the adjustment by doing what she does best: acting like she's fine, being a boss of bathroom jokes, and programming dragons that can destroy any program down to its roots with a click of a mouse. This unintentionally garners the attention of her new school's anti-social hacker, who half the student body fears and the other half avoids.

A young girl who is broken. Her smiles are fake and her happiness too. A dark past with lonely and painful feelings behind her charade. She writes down her feelings in her diary. Will she ever be happy? Will she ever find happiness? Only fate will tell.

What you are about to read is a love story. Let me prepare you in advance, this story will not end the way that you expect. When we met, I was young and had never experienced real love. He was older and charismatic, I never stood a chance. He was sweet and funny, everyone loved and respected him. On the surface he was everything I could ever want and for a while, everything was like a dream. But like all dreams, it came to an end. Somewhere along the line something changed, something that to this day I still can't pinpoint. The names in this story don't matter, because this story could happen to anyone. It's messy and complicated, a whirlwind of beauty and pain that created something that had never existed, something that never will again. It's been many years, but it's time for this story, my story, to be heard.
